What size is a one size beanie?

One size beanies are typically designed to fit most people. This is because they are formed in a circular pattern and can be stretched to fit most head sizes. But does it fit you? The one size beanie has a size of 21.5 to 23 inches (54 to 60 cm), so a medium – large fit. Do you have a different head circumference? Than they may lead to discomfort and difficulty wearing them.

How tall should a beanie be?

This is a very interesting question to answer. For adults we recommend an average beanie height of 9 inch (23 cm), because you would like to cover your ears and neck. There are many factors that would determine the height of the beanie. Factors such as: the person’s head size and how much hair they have. In most cases, beanies are worn to cover up one’s ears and neck from the cold. This means that they should be long enough to cover these areas. However, this doesn’t mean that they should be so long as to cover one’s eyes!

Best hat size for dreads / dreadlocks

Most people recommend a 25.25 inch (64 cm) size hat or beanie if you have dreadlocks. This is US size 8. This is important for the head circumference which is a lot bigger with dreads. Furthermore, is would depend on the type of locks and the desired style. For example, if you want to wear a hat that will cover your locks completely, then you would need a hat that is at least 9.5 inches tall. If you want to wear a hat that will show some of your locks, then you need to find a hat that is about 9 inches tall.

How to measure beanie size?

Yes, beanies come in many different sizes. Therefore, we like to show you how to measure your own beanie size. In another post best hat size we explain how to measure your head circumference, if you don’t own one yet.

Measure your own beanie to determine size:

  1. Get your favorite beanie out of the closet.
  2. See if there is a label on the inside with the dimensions.
  3. No? Then measure the width of your beanie.
  4. Add 6 inches (15 cm) and you have about your beanie size.

However, don’t worry, most of them come in one size. For example, I have a head circumference of 23 inch (58 cm) and I fit below one size beanies.
